Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why is it asking me what “category” I’d like to compete in? And which should I select?

Instead of the traditional age groups that most races recognize, we instead plan to recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for a variety of categories.
The “Open” is for your traditional runner.
“Duo” is for those pushing a Hoyt Running Chair or Jogging Stroller
“Push-Rim Wheelchair” are for those who are self-propelling a racing chair or traditional wheelchair
“Handcycle/Recumbent Bike” are for participants using an adaptive bike with gears
”Mobility” is for any participant with a disability that impairs motor function who may or may not be using an assistive device
”Visual Impairment” is for any participant who has a visual impairment and may or may not be using a guide
”Rowing” is for any participant who would like to complete the one mile or 5k distance on a Concept 2 Rowing Machine

If you have any questions about which category you should select, you can email me at brendan@adaptx.org

  2. If I have a Visual Impairment or diagnosis that meets the criteria for the “Mobility” category, but I would like to be recognized among traditional runners, can I register under the “Open” category?

    Absolutely!

  3. If I am a Team Hoyt Duo but I would like to compete for the traditional overall awards, how should I register?

Select “Duo” underneath the Category and then answer the conditional prompt, “Would you like to compete in the Duo Division or Open Division?”

  4. Do you have a map of the 5k and One Mile routes?

We are in the process of working with the town to establish the most accessible and safe route. The final course will be announced and clearly articulated with a written description, map, and video walkthrough of the course in the coming weeks.

  5. Can my registration be refunded if I sign-up but am unable to attend the race?

We do not have a refund policy for participants who are unable to attend the event on June 1st.

  6. Why does registration ask if I want to fundraise for AdaptX? If I choose yes, is there a minimum?

RaceRoster, our new registration platform, has a great fundraising feature that allows our participants to set up a fundraising page to share their stories and why they’re passionate about supporting the mission of Adaptx. There is no minimum required to participate in our fundraising program. Registrants who fundraise at least $50 will receive a special event shirt. If you would like help setting up your fundraising page, email bridget@adaptx.org.
